Òpera Oberta is a university project funded by the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Its main objective is to spread the art of opera among students worldwide. To this end, since 2000, the Liceu leverages all of its technological infrastructure and offers the participating institutions an academic program that includes five broadcasts per academic year.
The opera works are broadcasted to participating institutions with high-quality encrypted network transmissions (IP Multicast Streaming) on specific dates during the academic year and are associated with acquiring academic credits to registered students.
The program offers supplementary educational material as: the historical context of the project and the conditions for creating, plot, scholarly articles on the composition, playwriting, directing and scenography of the opera and related material.
